Greece reformed its work-migration system in 2026 under Law 5275/2026, which
introduced the EU single-application procedure for third-country nationals —

What the 2026 law means for workers

• Seasonal work visas now allow stays of up to 9 months within any 12-month
  period (agriculture, olive/fruit harvest, tourism, hotels).
• The tourism-sector seasonal permit (type E-6) covers up to 9 months.
• Tens of thousands of seasonal positions were announced for 2026 (official
  reports cite 48,000 seasonal + 2,000 skilled places, with other announcements
  putting total seasonal capacity even higher).
• New for 2026: employers must PROVE suitable worker accommodation before a
  seasonal permit can be issued — a strong worker-protection rule.
• Every non-EU worker must hold both a work permit and a residence permit;
  working without them is illegal.
• Seasonal workers are entitled to the Greek national minimum wage
  (around €800/month for 2026).

Pathway note: seasonal permits are temporary, but workers who move to regular
employment contracts can transition to renewable residence permits, and 5 years
